Crime in London has risen less than the rest of England since 2016Incorrect. Recorded crime per person in London has increased by 18% over this period, less than the 31% increase across England overall. These statistics only count crime recorded by police, and it’s estimated that overall crime is decreasing. In London crime has risen five times faster than the rest of the country since Sadiq Khan became Mayor in 2016. In actual fact the Evening Standard article appears to have compared the change in crime in London to England overall, not “the rest of England.” In the rest of England (without including London) recorded crime actually fell slightly.
