I think it’s fair to say that every family does the holidays differently. 6 months later, the stepbrother calls with the news that OP should really buy Christmas gifts for the kids this year. In the end, OP agrees to buy small gifts and bring them to Christmas. I have to say, I do think this guy could be nicer about his nieces and nephews, because they’re family and also just because they’re kids, and really don’t deserve this kind of judgment. That said, gifts should be optional and no one should be forced to buy them if they’re not moved to do so, right?
